Structural Engineering Course for Future Structural Engineers

Structural Engineering Course for Architects

As a future structural engineer, have you thought of any of the following when considering a career in structural engineering?

"What do structural engineers do?! I wish I could find a professional engineer willing to show me what structural engineers do at work on a daily basis"

OR...

"I wish I had a better understanding of HOW structural engineers make their decisions, so I could succeed in my career & not have to waste so much time making mistakes and bad decisions"

OR..

"What's there to learn practicing engineering?! Designing a structure shouldn't be so complicated!"

WE GET IT...

Understanding what goes into structural design can be frustrating! As engineers ourselves, we have heard it all before.

That is why we have decided to create an online course dedicated to helping students and future structural engineers just like you understand the basics of structural engineering and give you the knowledge you need to get the career you’ve always wanted.

As an architect, have you thought any of the following when working with a structural engineer?

"Why should I have to compromise my innovative design just to accommodate some structural engineer who is OVER designing?!"

OR

"I wish I had a better understanding of HOW structural engineers make their decisions, so I could challenge their work & not have to waste so much time going back and forth!"

WE GET IT...

Working with structural engineers can be frustrating! As engineers ourselves, we have heard it all before.

That is why we have decided to create an online course dedicated to educating architects just like you on the basics of structural engineering that can be applied to the projects you work on every day.

WHY YOU SHOULD CARE

There may be times where you are not sure what structural engineers do in the consulting profession and you would like to get an inside look at how professionals apply the knowledge they learned at school to solve problems in real-life projects.

Based on experience, we know that university does not prepare you enough for life in the real world after graduation. Unless you have good mentors, it may be difficult to learn the skills and knowledge required to help you stand out from the rest when trying to get your dream job or to move up in the ranks at your new position.

Engineering school focuses on lots of fundamental concepts, but when you become a structural engineer you need to be able to bring those concepts together and apply this knowledge to real-world problems. This course gives you the opportunity to learn from two younger structural engineers who are currently working in the industry and know what it takes to set yourself ahead of the competition.

In this course you will see how you can take the concepts you have learned in school such as beams and columns, snow and wind loads, analysis and problem solving to design unique and complicated structures as part of a competent and cohesive team of other engineers, architects, contractors and owners.

By taking our course... You will have a confident understanding of...

WHY YOU SHOULD CARE

There may be times where you are designing a building but are unsure of the structural implications to your design. If you aren’t confident in your understanding of structures, after all your hard work you may be forced to make significant changes to your design to accommodate structural elements. This means losing TIME & MONEY for you and your firm. This is something that could be avoided with the right understanding and approach to structural engineering.

We have it seen it happen before from many architects just like you.

We are dedicated to helping architects better understand structural engineering and what it is that we do...which is ultimately to ensure the safety, integrity and longevity of the building you're designing.

Something we are sure you can get behind.

Knowing the basics of structural engineering is important if you want to be able to communicate with and understand structural engineers when working on your most important projects. It will also be a good way to set yourself apart from other staff at your firm when it comes to being a part of the design of larger and more complicated buildings and renovations.

By taking our course... You will have a confident understanding on...

  • what elements and connections of a structure are most critical
  • what are the different structural systems and construction materials
  • material testing requirements
  • What goes into the renovation and modification of existing structures
  • what structural engineers take into account when designing and specifying things like...

    • Foundations

    • Concrete beams/slabs

    • Steel columns/cross bracing

    • Masonry shearwalls

    • Wood framing

    • Concrete strength and curing

What People Are Saying...

THIS COURSE HELPED MARKO UNDERSTAND THE CONSTRUCTION OF HIS NEW HOME.

“As a current homeowner and future homeowner of a newly built house, I feel that the videos and information provided by the Structural Engineering Basics team have empowered me to know more about the basic concepts and elements that incorporate the structural design of a house. This has educated me on the background and reasons for the design in question, but it has also allowed me to challenge and question particular aspects of the design for my new house. I have new found appreciation for structural engineering and would recommend this education series to any aspiring homeowner such as myself who wants to sleep better at night!”

Marko B. (Homebuilder)

THIS COURSE HELPED ANDY TRANSITION INTO HIS NEW ROLE AT WORK AFTER GRADUATING.

“As a recent graduate just starting out in structural engineering, this course was tremendously helpful for me to connect what I have learned in school with how it is applied in the real world. Noah and Mostafa's teaching style kept my attention and I liked being able to learn from professional engineers currently working in the industry. Thanks guys!”

Andy L. (Engineer in Training)

BEN WAS SKEPTICAL AT FIRST, BUT USED THE KNOWLEDGE TO SAVE TIME & MONEY.

“I am not going to lie, but when Noah reached out to me, I was skeptical at first. I didn't think that they could offer me anything that would be beneficial towards what I do as a Project Manager. But when I went through the course, I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of content that provided value to what I do. The knowledge I gained made it easier to review drawings, communicate with structural engineers and complete site reviews.”
